To purify the soul against . . . Its own eternal loss . . . Dear Mary, please remember us . . . And help our lives to be . . . The pattern and the guardian . . . Of perfect chastity . . . Let us be martyrs unto God . . . And let our bodies bleed . . . But keep our souls forever pure . . . In thought and word and deed.
The Fifth Joyful Mystery; The Finding of Jesus
Inside the temple He expressed . . . His deep philosophies . . . And told the laws of God to all . . . The scribes and Pharisees . . . And they who feigned or really thought . . . That they were very wise . . . Attended to His teachings with . . . Astounded ears and eyes . . . But all the while His Mother wept . . . And Joseph knew no joy . . . Until they traced their weary steps . . . And found their little boy . . . Dear Mary, may we always be . . . Obedient and true . . . As little Jesus was that day . . . When He went home with you . . . Give us your gracious blessing now . . . And hear our prayer sincere . . . That we may keep the word of God . . . And we may persevere.
The First Sorrowful Mystery; the Agony in the Garden
The sweat and tears of agony . . . Streamed down upon His face . . . As Jesus knelt and prayed alone . . . In that dark country place . . . "My Father, let this chalice pass . . . From Your most humble Son . . . I ask of You, let not my will . . . But only Yours be done" . . . And presently appeared to Him . . . An angel from the sky . . . To strengthen Him, and Jesus knew . . . That He was soon to die . . . O Jesus, let us suffer too . . . And let us be contrite . . . For every sin that caused You hurt . . . And added to Your plight . . . Give us the will to serve You and . . . To practice self-restraint . . . And strength to bear each cross with-out . . . A murmur or complaint.
The Second Sorrowful Mystery; the Scourging
They stripped Him of His garments and . . . They tied His holy hands . . . And scourged Him at the pillar to . . . Appease their loud demands . . . The rabble leered and mocked Him as . . . His flesh was torn apart . . . But Jesus kept His silence and . . . Forgave them in His heart . . . Each cruel lash cut deeper and . . . Inflicted greater pain . . . Yet Jesus bore His suffering . . . And He did not complain . . . O Jesus, let us scourge ourselves . . . For every sin today . . . And mortify the senses that . . . Invite the worldly way . . . Let us be always virtuous . . . In body, soul and mind . . . And put our evil passions and . . . Our selfishness behind.
The Third Sorrowful Mystery; the Crowning with Thorns
They placed a crown of cruel thorns . . . Upon His holy head . . . That pierced the sacred, tender flesh . . . Until it tore and bled . . . And then they struck Him with their reeds . . . And mocked Him as a king . . . And spat upon His gentle face . . . So scarred with suffering . . . He wore the crown to Calvary . . . In token of their scorn . . . And on His loving lips there was . . . A prayer for every thorn . . . O Jesus, let us share with You . . . The painful crown You wore . . . And let us promise faithfully . . . That we will sin no more . . . Teach us to have humility . . . In everything we do . . . And help us live a better life . . . To praise and honor You.
The Fourth Sorrowful Mystery; The Carrying of the Cross
They forced His cross on Jesus and . . . They dragged Him on His way . . .For He was to be crucified . . . On Golgotha that day . . . Three times He fell into the dust . . . With sweat and blood and tears . . . Amid the rabble's clamoring . . . Its curses and its jeers . . . He heard her sobs and sighs . . . And deep was His compassion as . . . He gazed into her eyes . . . O Jesus, let us walk with You . . . The road to Calvary . . . And teach us to be patient in . . . Our own adversity . . . Keep us from falling into sin . . . Help us to conquer fear . . . And grant that in Your way of life . . . Our souls will persevere.
The Fifth Sorrowful Mystery; The Crucifixion
With nails that pierced His hands and feet . . . His body hung on high . . . They crucified The Son of God . . . And left Him there to die . . . And when the hour was at hand . . . A soldier lanced His heart . . . So if the least of life remained . . . At last it would depart . . . But He forgave them when He said . . . "They know not what they do" . . . And so the scriptures were fulfilled . . . And every word was true . . . O Jesus, give us courage now . . . To suffer and to bleed . . . And let us die unto ourselves . . . From worldly thought and deed . . . Show us the path to penitence . . . With tears on bended knees . . . Teach us to walk in charity . . . And love our enemies.

And on the third day He arose . . . And Mary, coming there . . . Beheld the stone was rolled away . . . The sepulcher was bare . . . And then an angel spoke to her . . . And told her not to fear . . . "The Lord is risen from the dead . . . He is no longer here . . . Go tell you his disciples now . . . Wherever they may be . . . That He has gone before you to . . . The land of Galilee" . . . O God, that we may rise above . . . The sins that weigh the soul . . . And that our hearts may have the faith . . . To make us clean and whole! . . . Give us the fervor and the grace . . . To start our lives anew . . . And make each moment one of praise . . . And gratitude to You.

He stood upon Mount Olivet . . . And spoke the parting word . . . That only His apostles and . . . His holy Mother heard . . . Mount Olivet, where once He wept . . . For all Jerusalem . . . And prayed in agony for those . . . Who hate and who condemn . . . And then He went to Heaven in . . . A burst of brilliant light . . . Beyond imagination and . . . Beyond all human sight . . . O God, instill our hearts with hope . . . For that eternal life . . . Where peace prevails forever and . . . There is no thought of strife . . . Imbue us with the spirit and . . . Desire to attain . . . A place of perfect happiness . . . In Your divine domain.

As Pentecost approached its close . . . They all were gathered there . . . When suddenly the sound of wind . . . Was heard to fill the air . . . To His disciples there appeared . . . Strange tongues of fiery red . . . As now The Holy Ghost came down . . . And settled on each head . . . And they went forth to preach that day . . . In near and distant lands . . . That all the world might know and keep . . . The Lord's divine commands . . . O Holy Spirit, fill our souls . . . With wisdom, truth and light . . . And keep the armor of our faith . . . Forever strong and bright . . . Give us that love of virtue and . . . Thy will we need to win . . . In every conflict that we wage . . . Against the force of sin.
The Fourth Glorious Mystery; The Assumption
When Mary closed her loving eyes . . . In soft, departing sleep . . . Her body was not given to . . . The earth to hold and keep . . . She was not left to decompose . . . Beneath this common sod . . . But angels came to comfort her . . . And carry her to God . . . All Heaven then rejoiced in her . . . And sang her lasting praise . . . And she was reunited with . . . Her Son of earthly days . . . O Mother Mary, comfort us . . . And listen to our prayer . . . That in the Kingdom of your Son . . .Someday we too may share . . That we may be united with . . .Our Saviour and Our Lord . . . And be forever happy in . . . His wonderful reward.

When Mary went to Heaven she . . . Was crowned eternal Queen . . . The queen of angels, of the world . . . And God's celestial scene . . . The Father's faithful daughter who . . . His will had always done . . . The Holy Spirit's virgin spouse . . . And mother of His Son . . . And thus she was rewarded for . . . Her life on earth, and thus . . . Became our refuge and our hope . . . To intercede for us . . . O Mother Mary, with our prayers . . . And with our tears we plead . . . That you beseech your Son to grant . . . The graces that we need . . . Give us the blessing of your love . . . And tell us what to do . . . To gain eternal happiness . . . With Jesus and with you.
